ok so i was wandering if i could put a AMD Athlon XP 3200+ - AXDA3200DKV4E, It has A AMD Athlon XP 2200+
i was wandering if i got the 3200 would it increase the speed a lot or a little
the system hasnt been updated at all,the only thing i installed was a Geforce 4000 MX graphics Card
other than that it has 96 mb of ram
and runs really slow(there is no viruses)
if i increased the ram to 512 mb, would it speed up?
It runs Windows XP,The Graphics Card Takes 128 mb,But doesnt use the processor(It has its Own)
plz help |

What programs are you running on that box?
You may want to increase memory first, and then think about upgrading the CPU.

If you have Geforce 4000 MX and 96mb RAM there are no sens to have XP3200+
My suggestion is to upgrade the RAM to 512 mb and to change the graphics Card for chip secondhand Radeon 9600Pro.
And do you know that 512mb DDRII RAM is at half the price of 512 DDR? The best way is to go for PCI-E and DDRII motherboard first of all. and do not spend money for old, slow and expensive devices. _________________ My Want List: http://www.cpu-world.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=22729

The system with 512mb RAM will be in several times faster then with 96 (firs of all - boot time and when you are running several programs together)
But in 3D you'll be still too slow. You have to upgrade graphics card too to be faster in 3D.
Do you play games on your own competer?
If yes, you have to change 256MB nVidia Geforce 7300LE TurboCache!!!
"TurboCache" - sounds good, but it is evil. Any 7600GT (~$80) will be in 5-10 times faster. _________________ My Want List: http://www.cpu-world.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=22729
