I've been doing some research and some sources tell me that the motherboard I have is limited to horrible CPU's but I'm hoping this is wrong. I have an MSI MS-6330 motherboard and an 952 MHz AMD Athlon processor..

I've never upgraded my BIOS for fear of messing up my computer, plus it was never really neccesariy, but I'd be willing to do so if it was.

So... I guess my main question is: What are my limitations in terms of a new CPU?

There are a few different MS-6330 motherboards. You can find cpu upgrade data for these boards on cpu-upgrade.com site:

Take a look at your motherboard - MSI usually puts motherboard model name (like "K7T Turbo2") in big letter somewhere on the top of the board.

I looked absolutely everywhere and the only thing I can find is "MS-6330 VER 2.1"

I don't know which one that is on the page that you linked to? =/

I see... You probably have OEM version of the board:

http://www.gearxs.com/gearxs/product_info.php?products_id=2850

It supports Athlon processors up to 1.2 GHz.

That wouldn't even really be worth it for me to upgrade then, would it?

No, it's not worth it.
