hey guys i wanna buy a new videocard, 8800 GT or ATi HD3870, which one is better, because i've seen some benchmarks, but i don't understand some of 'em, i mean how comes that ati has 775/2250 MHz wiht DDR4 and he is beaten by the 8800 GT which has 600/1800 DDR3 memory. I would appreciate anyone's help and please say also a brand name too

The 8800GT is faster although it generally costs a bit more. Both cards are excellent buys. For reviews check.

As for the brand, for both cards the gigabyte version is well priced and includes a zalman cooler stock but is usually sold out (for this reason). Gigabyte's 8800gt version is also nicely factory overclocked to 700mhz (not much overclocking room exists on the 3870, they factory clock the piss out of them to even get them close to nvidia.) For the 8800gt you might also look at xfx for there lifetime warranty which even covers damage caused by overclocking abuse or evga for their trade up program as well as lifetime warranty. I don't know much about ati's brand specific board partners but I would definitely look for one with a lifetime warranty since my past luck with graphics card fans has been spotty at best. My personal suggestion is the 8800gt. I bought one and am quite happy. Nvidia just generally has better drivers and it is a good deal faster.

8800GT is better even if it is clocked lower, because it has a much better architecture.
