I never had a CPU problem before. Mobo is a Biostar i945G-M7, I've had for about 2.5 years. I just bought a new hard drive and was preparing to install it and started using the air-can to clean the dust out of the case. I dont know if I might have jolted the CPU somehow but now when I turn on the box and enter setup, the screen showing CPU temp shows it starting out at about 75 celcius and climbs to 85 in about 10 seconds, then the whole system shuts down. I have doubts that this temperature is accurate, the whole thing feels cool to the touch. I even tried re-setting the BIOS according to the mobo manual and that didnt change anything. I've since disconnected everything in the box except my video card and it still does it. I get about 20 seconds and the poof. The fans are all working fine. It is as if the motherboard is getting the wrong temp readout from the chip.

Any idea whats going on?

Looks like you moved the heatsink in some way. No worry, just put a new layer of thermal paste and it should do.

Or try to reseat it without removing it, if it doesn't work do as above.
