Hi guys, new here... I own a Gateway GT4024 Desktop with a Pentium D 2.66ghz processor and 2 gigs of ram. I want to know if it possible to upgrade my cpu to a 3ghz Pentium D Processor, and if so, is it difficult? According to Gateway's website, this is my motherboard... http://support.gateway.com/s/MOTHERBD/MSI/WMEMS-7248/WMEMS-7248sp2.shtml

Thanks

You have the slowest CPU that your system can use. Any processor in a 775-land FC-LGA package will work, but every one at 3 GHz and faster that is listed on this site (http://www.cpu-world.com/cgi-bin/SSpec_Chart.pl) will need you to change the bus speed to 800MHz. I don't know if your system does that for you....
