Try to update your bios using your old cpu, but not all motherboard with 400/533 system bus support pentium D/celeron D

Here http://www.fujitsu-siemens.com/rl/peripherals/mainboards/cpu2.asp?Main=D1386 you can find a list of supported cpu by your motherboard

BIOS updating is not enough, I am afraid.
It is Intel. If you want a new cpu you have to buy a new mobo too.
848G is ok for celeron D.

It is offtopic. In other forums it'd be on-topic message, which means that in offtopic forum it's an offtopic message Smile
