My new k7vm3 motherboard doesn't boot at all. The fan just remains on but there's no image.

I'm using a used Athlon XP 1700+ processor axda1700dut3c. (It was installed on an Asrock k7vm2 motherboard with a broken capacitor.) I tested the processor on another system and it work.

The k7vm3 supports amd processors with 200/266/333 mhz fsb speeds. The speeds can be adjusted by a jumper on the motherboard.

My understanding is that my processor can run at 266mhz.

I installed a 128mb pc2700 ram and I'm using a 400w power supply.

Am I using the wrong processor for this motherboard?
Any suggestions?

The asrock k7vm2 takes the ddr type of mem.If the board powers up yet you git nada, check the mem socket and see if the mem is real loose, check the mem to make shure it is the right kind. If it is then try a different socket with the same mem stick. If you still dont git anything email me at nevarjc@yahoo.com .Name is John
