I would suggest that in Rev HF, the "H" is the package type and the "F" the revision, as that is what they would mean in a normal IBM part number. All IBM 6x86MX in a FC-PGA package have a part number ending in "HF", so this would fit with my hypothesis... _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

I have to ask...are these samples coming from local sources? Was there a IBM FAB near you or something? |

i live near Hsinchu scientific park of Taiwan which is the home of some semiconduct companies such as the TSMC,UMC,asus etc
the Hsinchu scientific park has the world highest dense of 12-inch wafer-producing fabs according to wikipedia.
but there is no scrap yard nearby
this chip is from another Taiwanese collector who live about 100 KM away from Hsinchu scientific park. there are some scrapyard there. he ever told me he has bussiness with the scrap yard occassionally. so i believe this chip is from there. |

Cool, thanks for explaining. That makes sense. "Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) is the first and largest dedicated silicon foundry (semiconductor contract manufacturer) in the world"
Seeing chips like this is what makes collecting such a treasure hunt. |
