| I have a dell computer with an 845d chipset, 400mhz fsb, 266mhz memory and am looking to buy the Intel Pentium 4 Northwood 2.8GHz 400Mhz Socket 478 512KB Cache Processor OEM Mfr P/n RK80532PC072512. One question - Will it work on my motherboard? |

If its an Optiplex GX2xx, I'd be more concerned with bad caps 
Some of them have early rev boards which do not, and some have late rev boards which do. I know this from personal experience. |

| So some 845d motherboards are early and late revisions and only the later ones will work with that particular processor right? The computer is a Dell Dimension 4400 2.2ghz (.13 micron northwood) I bought back in June 2002 when the highest speed you could get was 2.2 Ghz.ALso the processor has hyperthreading and my motherboard doesn't support it. Does that matter? Might be stupid questions but I want the fastest processor compatible with my chipset. |
