I never used a network device made by Linksys, therefore I can't say anything good or bad about it.

I heard the versions 1.0 - 3.0 of the WRT54GS were quite good, and the newer ones (with less RAM and ROM) are a bit unstable.
Try to purchase an older one if you will be able to find it in NOS condition.

seems to be the #1 rated router, with a 200MHz CPU it should handle 10Mbps

No one knows. Linksys didn't published the WRT54GS's WAN-LAN throughput values.
Most manufacturers "hesitate" to publish the detailed data of their products for home use.

Buy it and find out. Wink

I did find throughput of the 54G V4 at 24Mbps, and the V5 at 32, so it shpuld be fine.

Congratulations! icon_caffine

Don't forget to turn on the WLAN encryption and change the router's default passwords. Wink

I run a Linksys WRT54GL and the custom DD-WRT firmware, works great with my 24/8 cable. Had a D-link before but it could not cope with the 24 Mbit downloads. The Linksys does not even blink...

I'm tempted to use that firmware on mine, as the stock stuff doesnt work at all with my VPN Sad

Am a little leary on setting it up though.
