| I am trying to find out if this cpu will work on the am2 or am2+ motherboards. I bought this two years ago and the msi website said it would work on my mb but it didn't. Also what it so different about this cpu that it won't work on many of the mother boards. The specs look about the same and can this be overclocked? Thanks, Billy |

If it is (as you say in the message title) a socket 940 processor, then no it won't work on socket AM2 or AM2+ board. Unless you have an adaptor to make the processor work in a different socket to that it was designed for, you are going to be out of luck, and if you make it fit it will probably damage the internals of the chip. I'm not sure that adapters are even available for that type of upgrade... _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

Due to the integrated memory controller inside the cpu, it's totaly impossible to make an adapter to fit a socket 940 cpu in an AM2/AM2+ socket.
Socket 940/939/754 use DDR memory
Socket AM2/AM2+ use DDR2 memory |
