|
|
With the 7 page (and counting) thread with the NEC chip groupbuy it struck me that a groupbuy script of some sort would sort out eventual groupbuy dilemmas. A php/perl/mysql or whatever page where a group buy is automatically handled based on the groupbuy rules. The groupbuy handler creates the group buy, adds a link to the ebay page.
Item: eBay link or description
Groupbuy handler: cpushack
Pieces total: 10
Pieces left: 5
Total groupbuy value: Will add up the maxbids for the groupbuy handler to use when bidding.
User | amount wanted | $ max/chip
cpuswe 3 $5
Mr T 1 $2
The script could automatically handle if someone drops out, then the next one in line will get the chip. If the rule "ask for more than one chip..." gets used the script automatically calculates who gets what. Also if there MAX are higher than some bids the script will handle this also.
All to make it simple and fair both for buyer and groupbuy handler.
This kind of programming required is far beyond my knowledge... Genna, is this something you could do programming wise?
But first... is this something we need? Do we see more groupbuys coming? Handlers, would this make your day easier? _________________ My collection: http://www.cpucollection.se :::::: http://www.chipdb.org Photos of chips you never knew existed. Now over 6000 different chips in the database. |

Hopefully all group buy are not like the NEC group buy, but could be a good idea. Maybe in the future restricted VIP members section? _________________ My microprocessor collection: The Gecko's CPU Library |

Yupp, and i was thinking more of preparing for future buys. Since there are more and more collectors here, i think more groupbuys (or perhaps we should separate the terms groupbuyand groupbid) will come. A year or so a go i think everyone would have gotten a grade 1 set, but on the other hand there would perhaps not have been enough to buy them? _________________ My collection: http://www.cpucollection.se :::::: http://www.chipdb.org Photos of chips you never knew existed. Yah, the other issue with group buys (especially big ones) is people requesting an item, then backing out afterwards (I have loads of chips from that lol) _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!

That's bad for you, because you are paying first.
I agree with explained delays, otherwise it's bad behaviour not to pay or hop out when price rises. |

It`s one thing to back out before the auction is won but not after.
I would not even take someones price in a group buy again if they backed out after the end once before.
Delays are ok if they intend on paying a little while later. |

| Does seem like such a script is a good idea. If for no other reason then simplifying the process for the handler. |

Something like a poll where users could add a bid at a value, and it could only be seen by them and those in the VIP section. People should also be able to un-place a bid, but only before a certain time.
I'm sure the poll feature could be easily modified to suit this purpose. |
