Ebay CPU sales, a toplist.

Hi!

I have over the last months noted down some chip sales on ebay. Chips that have my interest or perhaps a general interest or just a high ending price. My idea was that some day put this in a database and create a toplist sorted on the most valuable list... This has now happened!

My first hand made (really ugly) php script has seen the light. (Im really glad only the output is shown)

Do you know of a sale that should be on the list? My own criteria will be minimum 5 bids and (for now) only USD,EUR or RMB. There is a submit form below the list. I will manually add all entries at this time. (but a goal some day is that this should happen automatically)

Is this just a waste of time or...?

A few people, including myself, had similar ideas in the past, but it never happened. I think it's a great idea Smile

I do think however that an idea of average prices and even minimum might be useful, where possible (of course, this might be an idea that involves too much work until it's automated...).

If an item was listed in another currency, would you want it with any particular currency when submitted? (eg If listed in $AU but available worldwide and a chip sells for $AU 100, should it be posted with the price as shown on ebay.com? Or am I complicating it?

very tedous by hand.
Making it automatically would be very helpful for newbie to bid on ebay.

Haven't you been keeping track of ending prices and such for a while debs? I bet you have quite the list. My list is, unfortunately, only in my head.

BTW I think it is a good idea. I wish i remembered more of the specific auction ending prices.

Yupp, I think we discussed average prices a couple of years ago, and that would be a nice thing to have IF we get enough data. Thats where other collectors come in to keep an eye on ebay and submit auctions. I will of course try to make that as automatic as possible but a manual review and a link with a image in the chipdb.org database has to be done manually.

The prices are always in USD on ebay.com? Then we could go for ebay.com only submissions. Today the script gets the current exchange rate for EUR and RMB and recalculate it to USD (this was a programming goal by itself. To use online stuff in the .php script. This will come handy when trying to add ebay auctions automatically.)

chiptalk: yes it changes, and there are people that keep history of the weather changes to. Wink

I was going to do that at the start of 2006, but shortly after that had problem that led to losing my internet at home. I only recently got back online, and have not started looking into it again Sad

Version 1.0 is now online and public. I have solved getting ebay data directly from ebay which makes my work so much easier. I now only have to compare the auctioned chip with a chip on the site and submit it.

What criterias should there be? Auctions only (not buy it now), min 5 bids and available to Worldwide is what i have used, but if anyone else has other preferences, go for it. Minimum 5 bids is the one i am thinking about lowering...

So, if you win, participate or know of a auction that should be saved for future reference, please use the submit function!

I would suggest it be a minimum of 2 bidders (not bids). More than one bidder means more than one person wanted it, but more than one bid could mean one person put 5 or more bids before they hit a reserve...

I try to submit one of my ebay selling which meets the criterias (more than five bidds), but I cant find it due to long elapsed time .

An update! I added sorting a couple of weeks ago, and today i have added link to eBay if that exist and the auction is not older than 90 days.

With auctions added from February 10:th i have automatically downloaded the main eBay image for reference. Unfortunately i do not have permission to use the image on the site. But if someone would like to see the chip sold for reference just PM or email me!

And of course, if you know a auction, just use the submit feature on the page. (This is for submitting auctions to the list. Not new chips to the database. ) If a submitted chip does not come on the list it means that i do not have the corresponding chip in the database or that i was unable to pair the auction with a chip in the database

Another update... finally i managed to get the idea with tracking ebay sales where i wanted it in the first place, on the details page of a chip. When there are enough sales of a specific chip, average prices can be calculated and perhaps a nice graph to show the how the price has developed over time.
