Hello,

Just found this web site today, but could not find anything about the RCA 1802 on it. I have one in front of me saying: RCA CDP1802CD 715. Anyone an idea about the age of this COSMAC 8-bit CMOS CPU? I also have the databook, which was printed in 1979. So that dates the chip pritty well, but not excat.

Does anyone know anything about the CMOS processed used? ie gate width, number of metal layers (I guess 1)?

Thanks

Paul

Thanks for the link. It looks like you can still buy this chip. Must be the oldest still available CPU for sale? Or are there others like this?

Below an image of the chip:

Yes, it looks like Intersil is still selling for $71.28 if you buy 100 or more.

Paul: It was mfg'd the 15th week of 1977. I'm not sure about the number of interconnect layers, but in the mid-1970s you're talking 5 micron gate lengths.

BTW, if anybody needs original 1976 data sheets for the RCA CDP1801, 1802, etc., I have info on the following devices:

http://home.att.net/~c.and.a/cosmac.gif

The 1802-series parts are listed as "preliminary."

I'll also consider selling the entire data catalog (730 pages, their full IC product line), assuming the price is right.
