I have an AMD XP 2600+ (AXDA2600DKV3C) that is running at only ~1.66ghz on a PCChips M811LU mb. This is a recent upgrade.
Is there a way to bump the multiplier from 12.5x to 16x on this mb so I can see the full speed on the chip (~2.12ghz)?
Thanks in advance for any help . . . |

Yeah, that's the next step I'm trying as well but the flash hangs after it asks if I want to save the BIOS file. The JP1 jumper is on pins 1+2, which is "normal", so I'm stuck there as well.
Taking the cheap way out is killing me . . . but I will keep trying to flash BIOS.
Thanks for the response . . . |

I have a backup PC with a 2002 vintage Socket A/462 FIC AM37 mobo.
I am running with an Athlon MP2600+ CPU.
CPU-Z shows it as a Barton core CPU (and also shows 512MB L2), with an FSB of 133.4 and a multiplier of 15, giving me right at 2.0 GHZ processor speed ???
I have NEVER updated BIOS on this PC (nor has anyone else), so how did I get so lucky to come up with a stock multiplier of 15 ???
???
I always thought that the AM37 would only accept up to an XP 2600+ Thoroughbred as the fastest CPU it will support ???
I KNOW FOR 100% SURE that this IS an AM37 mobo, with an FSB133(266)...
But, CPU-Z recognizes this CPU as a Barton core. Also, the "Control Panel" >>"System" screen shows "Unknown CPU type" at 2.0GHZ.
So, if this WILL accept a Barton core, and the mobo has FSB133, and I believe that the fastest Barton core CPU with 133FSB is XP2800+, then my logic tells me that the XP2800+ CPU should work in this PC, right?
I might not gain that much CPU speed, but I wonder why nobody else has seemed to run across this? Even the FIC info shows XP2600+ as the fastest CPU this board will support.
But the XP2800+ SHOULD work logically speaking, right?
