Hi,
I found this little chip...
Does anyone know, what this is?
Thanks!

I think it is an ordinary logic chip of the 40xx (CMOS) series (TTL series is 74xx). As such, it would be a 4-bit binary full adder with fast carry.
For the Pinout, see the ChipDir entry http://www.xs4all.nl/~ganswijk/chipdir/giicm/4008.txt |

Not likely. Motorola standard CMOS series was 14xxx. |

| Maybe "DEC" stands for decoder? |

I can't find any information on this Motorola chip. It's not 4008 as the 4008 is a 16-pin chip, and DEC4008 is a 14-pin chip.

It's an 8-bit parity generator made for Digital Equipment Corp. (Same as the MC4008.) It's TTL, not CMOS, BTW - and yes, there were CMOS chips as far back as the late '60s. I have a couple RCA 4000-series CMOS chips in white ceramic DIPs from 1969.

I have a Motorola 4005, date code 7011, same package, 14 gold pins and it is a 16 bit memory.
I also have the data sheet to the 4005 somewhere and I am sure that there was a 4008 and 4009 mentioned.
So I'm sure it is any kind of very early memory chip.
When I find the datasheet I will post better information. |

Nope, it's what I said it is - an 8-bit parity generator. Here's page 1 of the data sheet:

BTW, I'm the guy who sold you the four MC4005 RAMs + data sheet.

Hi, yes, I found the datasheet and I was wrong.
Even without your correction I would have posted this today;-)
But nevertheless nice to meet you here again! |
