PLEASE HELP. I HAVE AN 7VT600P-RZ MOBO.
IT CURRENTLY HAS AN AMD 1602632 XP1800+ PROCESSOR WHICH FRIED WHEN THE HEAT SINK/FAN FELL OFF.
I WANT TO UPGRADE TO THE HIGHEST SPEED CPU WHICH IS COMPATIBLE WITH MY MOBO.
PLEASE ADVISE THE CORRECT CPU AND WHAT STEPS WILL I NEED TO DO TO COMPLETE THE INSTALLATION.
PLEASE HELP.

AMD Barton 3000+ on FSB 333 will be best for you. You can buy "copper shim pad" for few bucks to avert damage of CPU core.

The question I have is why did the cooler fall off? Do you have damage to the socket or a faulty cooler clip Question
