Hey Guys

My computer crashed and then started to continously restart, so I shut the computer down. Restarted it, it made it the XP screen then just shut down. I put the XP CD in and tried going to the repair option, I was just about there and the computer shutdown. I tried getting back there again and the computer (EVERYTIME, EXACT SPOT) crashes soon as it gets to the screen where it asks you to hit; Enter, R, or ESC. (right after it says "Starting windows" on the bottom of the screen). So I'm not able to do anything at all. I tried booting up to another HDD, no luck. Couldn't go to Windows, or get past that same point as before. I really don't wanna replace the MOBO, is there anything I can do?

P.S.
I just had this problem with my other computer, I ended up replacing my MOBO and everything was fine. Should I try putting the first HDD that gave me problem into a working computer and see what happens? Any help would be nice, thanks guys.

1. If anything is overclocked, return to stock settings.

2. Inspect the motherboard for bulging/leaking capacitors.

3. Test the memory modules one at a time with memtest86+.

4. Scan the hard drive with an antivirus application.

If you've got a spare (more powerful) power supply, it's also worth swapping to eliminate that as the problem. Seen it before.

Check to make sure the CPU cooling fan is running.

Hey guys, thanks for the reply. I tried some of what you all said, but the other things I'm gonna try tonight. I have another MOBO coming in the mail today (hopefully), I'm gonna see if that fixes the problem (again)..lol. After I had the same problem with mine I swapped MOBOs and everything has been fine since. My g/f did some research and found that there is something called a bios bug? I'm not too sure if that's what killed both of my mobos or not, just wierd that two computers (one I built 4 years ago, one my dad built 5 years ago...no problems since) died within a month of each other. Well thanks, I'll give everyone an update ASAP.

James
