My PC processor "Athlon XP" damaged. The new processors are not compactable with the ASUS motherborad: A7N266-VM. How to get compactable processors. Socket 462 (socket A): need i think.

The fastest CPU for your board is Athlon XP 2600+ with 266 MHz FSB- AXDA2600DKV3C. You should be able to find it on eBay.

Well, since AsusTek made the board, their website would probably be a good place to start. Try this page: http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx?SLanguage=en-us , and just enter the required information. It breaks out supported processors by motherboard revision and BIOS version. Idea

just watch out as there are about 3 diffrent types of 2600+ and not all of them might work with your mainboard. The 'cpu support' site doesn't mention anything about the Barton core (so basicalyy anything above 2500+). IMO it's best to get a 2400+, the performance is almost identical to that of 2600+, and the 2400+ is much easier to find
