hello all,
I apologise if I've posted this in the wrong place but heres the question.
I've just taken delivery of a new computer, it was advertised as having the equal processing power of 8ghz, it has in actual fact "X86 family 6 model 15 stepping 13 Intel 1599mhz" x 2. (according to the system info) .This does not suggest to me 8ghz however I am not very clued up in cpu's. So have I been conned ?
Thanks in advance Jim.
P.S. This is what the advert say's
Intel® Core™2 Duo E1200 processor
The NEW Core 2 Duo Processors run 40% faster and efficient than the older dual core Pentium D's which at the fastest were 3.4GHZ X2 (6.8GHZ !!)
So basically this system is equivalent to at least 8GHZ of CPU power!!

GHz is not a computer power unit.
And you cannot multiply frequency by core number.
You have a Pentium Dual Core @1600 GHz and that's all.
It can be equivalent to a Pentium D 8GHz or even a 486DX80 20GHz, but it is meaningless...
The advertisement is not good. _________________ Register on x86-guide.net to manage and share your collection on-line !

I hate ads like that! People who make this nonsense up should be hanged or skinned. All they do is play people's sense of 'more is better'. It's good that, at least, there's some technical info about the cpu, but what it says is that it's nothing out of the ordinary, really. _________________ Power without the price. |
