You shouldn't have problem with free extra genuine CD with OS from Microsoft. You can try faster and call them.

Get your copies of XP while they last. Though this may be old news to some, Microsoft will stop supplying XP to retailers and manufacturers very soon. MSNBC has been reporting the news all morning.

I'd rather have my teeth yanked out than have to switch over to Vista "Headache" if and when the time comes. icon_pelvic_thrust2

I just got off the phone with mircosoft and because I don't have the receipt for the copy I bought I have to buy a new one, I even told them I would send the cracked disk and no go. Thanks everyone for the help.

I hate to hear that, but I'm not surprised. That company (and Bill Gates in particular) has more money than most 3rd World countries, but they always want more. Past customers mean nothing to them.

Like I said in an earlier post, new XP copies will soon be a thing of the past, and Vista still has all sorts of driver and compatability problems that Microsoft is dragging their feet on solving. That's exactly what you get with a virtual monopoly.

New XP copies will be available for another 7 months.

They will be available fo several more years on the secondary market.

Vista does not have that many probalems, its biggest problem is the massive system requirements. If you meet those, it runs like a champ. I have not encountered driver issues or program compatibility problem (probably because I dont insisnt on trying to run Win95 programs on it)

Well, I didn't expect Microsoft to run out and collect all the existing copies of XP off the shelves. I understand how they will sell down, BUT MSNBC and all of the major news organizations (be they print, TV, or Internet) are advertising the end of Microsoft supplying XP. Of course, the whole news media organization could be wrong.

Sure, you have no problem at all with Vista, the problem (based on THOUSANDS of postings to Help Forums) is the general raw/unfinished nature of Vista in all it's forms. I know folks who have systems with MORE than enough 'system requirements' and they still have oddball problems. The fact Vista is such a system Hog is in itself a problem.

Exactly as the aricle says

Quote:
Microsoft will still allow smaller mom-and-pop PC builder shops to buy XP for resale through the end of January
