Hi,
do you know a reasonably easy method to open a Pentium (in standard Socket 7 package)? I would take a macro picture of the die... The gold lid is welded/soldered or just assembled with some glue?

Be careful - wear some eye protection. I've had 2 Pentium-type ceramic chips explode on me (stress of the ceramic) when heating for this purpose.
