|
|
| Hi. I have a problem and I need help. I have a motherboard pcchips M755 with a cpu Pentium III coppermine of 750 Mhz (especification SL462) and works perfectly. I installed a Pentium III coppermine processor of 1 Ghz (especification SL4MF) but the system doesn't start. Can anyone tell me if this cpu isn't compatible with my board??. If that's the case, wich especification will be good for me?? SL52R,SL4F9,SL5DV or other?? I need a 1 Ghz cpu or 933 Mhz will be fine as well. Thanks for your help and excuse me for my english. |

| I already did reset the cmos, but I'm trying to avoid the upgrading of the BIOS because I heard that's dangerous and you can damage permanently the motherboard. |

You must have PC-133 rated memory as well. Many of the boards that were produced right at the launch of the 133 FSB processors did not implement the correct timings and either would not run a 133 CPU or were flaky. A BIOS update, even if available, may not cure this. Also, not meaning to knock your board but PCchips had a terrible rep. during that time period. They sunk so low as to glue fake cache chips on some of their boards.
Good Luck |

| The fans and HDD staring mean only the board gets power. Really, it means little else. A blown board, proc (but generally not mem) can cause this behavior. |
