OK I know that you could change the string of the CPU and the name in the system proprietes, but I want to permanenrly change the CPU name so when the PC boots it displayes other name, because I have a Athlon X2 5600+ Windsor, and that CPU is a Athlon FX 62, so I want to change the name the FX 62, is there any way? with a hex editor or something?, could it be done? regardless of the price it would cost.?

Thanks

I believe you'd have to edit the BIOS, you'd find the CPUID strong inside the BIOS, and tell the BIOS it's to be recognized as an "Athlon FX-62"...

This would not be an easy task, I dont think!

Any money spent doing this would be better spent buying a board which correctly identifies the processor Very Happy
