|
|
I have an AMD Athalon XP 2000+ Thoroughbred in an EPOX EP-8KTA3+PRO motherboard. I cannot seem to get the right combination of BIOS settings to get the CPU to run at its rated speed of 1667MHz. I have set the FSB to 133, multiplier to 12.5 and vCore volts to 1.6. The DRAM is also set to 133. To me, this seems to be correct, however, the system becomes completely unstable and will not boot windows.
If I set the bios to Safe Settings or even Optimized settings, the CPU will run, but only at 100MHz FSB and DRAM. I must be overlooking something, because every combination I have tried other than 100MHz leaves the system very unstable.
Any ideas? Thanks! |

| I thought about that, but the MOBO is jumperless, at least for FSB. |

I've had jumperless issues before on an old Asus a7v133-c. if i set it by jumpers, no issues, if i went jumperless, posting was hit and miss. My guess in this case, is a possible issue with the voltage, not really sure of the voltage on that chip, but i know the thoroughbreds were hot suckers, so maybe they run a higher voltage. Other option is that you got a bad power supply giving too low of voltage to the mosfets for voltage control, or the mosfets themselves are toasted.
AMDs are tricky, that's why there's only three processors i really like
Intel PIII Coppermine
AMD Athlon X2 Toledo
Intel C2Q Kentsfield
if i find any specs that conflicts with your current settings i'll post 'em |
