I've seen them for about $50-$100 before, but NOT in that nice of condition.
by the way the guy you got it from is an excellent collector (Steve Emory) _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!

| Highly doubt it's older; since they were only produced in the year of 78. Oh well. Live and learn I guess |

I think it was a good deal.
If I didn't already have a C8086 I would have bought it.
The datecode on mine is 7835.
Don't think the datecode on the chip matters for the value. _________________ www.cpu-zone.com |

You are lucky you got that chip because I had my hand on the buy-it-now button when i saw it yesterday. I already have one, but at that price, it was tempting to buy it for trade stock.
Any collector trying to put togather a set of Intel's early chips in the type C
package (C4004, C8008, C3002, C8080, C8080A, C8080B, C8085, C8085A, C8085AH, and C8086) is going to need the C8086.
FYI, I have that chip listed in my collectors guide for $75 to $300
in good to like new condition. |

The price is not bad. These chips are very rare on eBay and it's not possible to predict the price. It'd be interesting to see what this auction could end at if there was no "Buy It Now"... It'd be probably more than $175.

I doubt it's used in spaceships. The package is higher quality than D8086 CerDIP, but it's not a mil-spec processor. An it's not radiation-hardened.

Thanks very much for the information. It's a bit comforting; gives a good reason for the spent money. But it's not near enough to make a teenager go bankrupt. I actually feel no regret, and now that it's part of my new collection I have a different view altogether.
Not that I won't trade this chip but just out of curiousity, what will you trade for it??? |

I am not ready to give up a C4004 gray but I would like to have it. How about a C8085AH and a C4001?
