| Oh yeah.. I bought a lot of good stuff from that dude through an agent. I never found out who he was, but he has/had a lot of good chips. Some china resellers have cleaned him out pretty good. |

| Awful conditions for the people trying to earn a living, but boy would it be fun to rummage through the piles of old boards looking for hidden gems... |

| I'm surprised that some people didn't know about this place. There are similar things going on in India and Africa |

I am to. It comes up in the news quite often in my area. There is a great "pod" on Current.com where a reporter visits the area and she drives for literally miles through ewaste piled as high as 30 feet. One image that sticks in my head is of an older asia gentlemen on a horsedrawn cart with about 300 vcrs piled 10 ft high in the cart. |

This is it! thanks for posting, this is a very interesting video. You can imagine these people are probably being paid 1-2 dollars at most for chips that sell for 100.00 |

I don't think that many know that is worth something and what not.
Most will go sorted for metal and chip meltdown.
I'm pretty sure just the bosses get those $2, not the workers. _________________ You may use the photos I have posted here under CC BY-NC-SA license. |

I don't quite believe this number, with this money you can hardly hire anyone to work for you, even the poor people. Prices in China increases a lot from 2000 to 2008. $7.50 a week (50RMB) is far from enough to make a living now.

Is this right?
So that's $7.50 for 1 5 day work week of work (80 hours) processing scrap (or .09 cents an hour) . A work week in the US is usually 40 hours. No wonder why selling vintage cpus in China is worth while. Instead of working 80 hours, you could sell a rare cpu on ebay. I am surprised there are not more Chinese sellers selling old chips. |

would not it depend on the part of China?
Seems like the places in the north (more rural) make less. _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!
