I've got a feeling those chips were remarked a long time ago.
It's possible they were remarked because they were not originally
marked as Intel C8008-1's. They could have been chips that were
not marked at all because the buyer intended to house mark them,
never got around to it, went out of business, etc. The unmarked chips
then ended up being sold to a distributor who couldn't sell them
because they were not marked, so he sent them to someone and had them stamped, this probably occured many years ago.
It's also possible that the chips were housemarked and ended up in the hands of a distributor who could not sell them, and the distributor actually had the old part numbers removed and had them reprinted. Again, this
would probably have occured years ago.
There used to be a number of companies that did nothing but "packaging".
You would send them the die and they would return you the finished chips.
I'm pretty sure than Intel outsourced some of their packaging in the early days simply to keep up with the demand. |

These chips have generated a lot of discussion so I tell you what I am going to do. Anyone that can test this chip let me know and I will send you one for free. Keep in mind I have already sent one to George, Mats and Gennadiy for there opinion on the chip. I have returned most of them as well but if you are looking to buy any of these you can contact USbid.com as I returned most of them. They come with a money back guarantee to be functioning! (the guarantee is not from me but from USbid.com).

So what do you think? Do you think they are fakes or refurbished and reprinted. You don't have anyway of testing it do you? If you want some more they have about 400

Is this a price you have in mind????
I thought if you would give it for free for just an opinion, I have an opinion !!!
The chips are newer cheap models of the c8008-1 but reprinted labels. Same speed, different model. I have a board that used to have a c8008-1 on it.
Can I possibly get it for free to test it on the board? By test it I mean fit it into the socket.

I think they are refurbished.

No, I don't. I always wanted to buy Mark-8 computer so I could play with it and test my 8008 processors, but I never had any spare money to do it.

Sure if it is an ES Heck I initially paid $25.00 each for them so I think that I would like to get that much out of them. I would gladly give one to anyone that could actually put it on a board, run electricity through it and let me know if it works. |
