A sign for Jinlong Electronics advertises in Chinese that it sells "military" circuitry, meaning chips that are more durable than commercial components and able to function at extreme temperatures. But proprietor Lu Weilong admits that his wares are counterfeit. His employees sand off the markings on used commercial chips and relabel them as military. Everyone in Guiyu does this, he says: "The dates [on the chips] are 100% fake, because the products pulled off the computer boards are from the '80s and '90s, [while] customers demand products from after 2000."

Thanks, John, for this eye opening article!
We can't be too careful about what we buy and who we buy from.
I worry mostly about the affect on our military.. Shocked

For example the 'military' 8087 recently forsale on the forum, absolute obvious fake, but claimed to not be lol.

Chinese gov't would be smart to really crack down on fakers, its making them look VERY bad, not to mention this WILL cost peoples lives.

Yes it is! You are the spokesperson and responsible for all of what chinese seller does! Didnt you know that? Wink

(Of course you aren't. It has nothing to do with you or your sales)

I have some bad news not about China sellers but Ukrainian.
Probably every local old stock seller and every second gold scraper knows me here in Ukraine.
Last week one of them asked me for list of the most rare soviet CPUs. He did not conceal from me that he want to re-mark not so rare chips into rarest for ebay sales.
I turned down his request... but ofcourse he can find my website or so...
I'm not an ultimate authority, but ask me for help or use my site.

Does he currently have a site on Ebay. If so I think we should know who he is so as not to get tricked.

No, he has no a store on Ebay yet. It seems to be he don't speak English. Smile
He just a primitive gold scraper.
I think he will try to find a partner.
May be he(they) will start from local Ukrainian collectors...
I know personally more than ten collectors here. All of them are (or will be) informed.

Sometimes yes, but amilitary design takes years to certify, thus by the time it goes into production, the chips t uses, are usually not made anymore.
