Z80 from MME

We all saw MME 880 chips:
UB 880 D MME - Z80 clone and 80A-CPU MME - export version

But... As far as I know soviet manufacturers sometime used MME crystals to package Z80 clones.
Moreover there were rumours that ex-soviet manufacturers used Taiwan crystals in 1991-1995 but these chips were named MME too (to have no questions from customers and from the gov).
I'm trying to make it out. What do you think about it?

I've never saw it in other collection...
But I've got these white chips from different sources here in Ukraine
