why do you collect cpus and chips?

I would have voted the first two options combined if it had been an option.

I collected at various times for the passion for a particular area of collecting (finally for just getting a big collection...). I have no interest in making huge profits, but would like to believe anything I buy in the future will hold it's value.

I expect to be buying some chips that will SAVE me money (as opposed to actually making money), by being usable when upgrading computers within my church. Some others I will buy to use in older systems that I can use for programming enterprises I want to get back into.

I am sure (in fact I know...) I will buy some chips just because I like them, but I value them mostly for their historical value, not for any financial value. As such, my response had to be the first, but would have been a combination of the first two replies...
