This doesn't seem like a very popular cpu. What's wrong?

Probably because for the same price you can get a Q9550 or Q9450 with 12 meg L2 that will run circles around the q8200. Also its got a 7.5 multi, which makes overclocking it a bit more of a hassle than the other two mentioned. Altho it will o/c just as good as some of the other chips. And actually you could pick up a Q6600 for way less and o/c that above and beyond the performance of the 8200. Its just one of those middle of the road CPUs.

Actually, the price of a Q8200 is more in line with the Q6600. The Q9450 & Q9550 are in similar price points, which are around $120 higher than a Q6600/Q8200. But I appreciate the technical feedback. Q9550's are selling really well.

I agree. The Q8200 is slated to replace the Q6600 as they share the same price point. Supply will eventually tighten in the next couple of months on a Q6600 as Intel moves away from this cpu.

I work in distribution and I handle the Intel line. Q6600 movement is still strong and people here wonder why the Q8200, in the same pricepoint, isn't selling as well.

I've read the q8200 doesn't support Intel's Virtualization Technology or Intel's Trusted Execution Technology ( http://www.intel.com/technology/security/ ).
