I have been collecting chips on the side along with old computer collecting and general computer scrapping and finally have started the charts of the cpu's. Here's the Intel CPU family lineage/tree charts in grahics format.

http://www13.brinkster.com/ghoulsgate/cpu/intel.html

Based on common sources so there may be variations from what others may know-- there's quite a variance between sources. Intel used as baseline standard.

There will be further revisions and more charts (this only half of what I have planned). Hopefully this will be of help and interest to other collectors. I'll probably let anyone who wants to use them on their sites.

Hi,

that's a nice informatic work.
Just a little correction: the 4040 was introduced at the end of '74, two years later than the 8008.
I didn't check the rest of the timeline but that (4040) might be mentionable.

Thanks, Michael

Dang, those are really nice charts. I'm thinking of giving a talk on the history of the microprocessor at school (college). Could I use the charts in my talk?

my apologies for not getting back to you-- due to seemingly neverending family emegencies I haven't had time to visit the forum-- I work on the charts every so often and send Gennidy heads up on anything new I come across. In fact I don't think I ever created an user account yet...

If you still want to use the charts, go for it, just cite your source, which now is cpucharts.info and has better looking charts now and I'm close to listing every Intel MCU
