|
|
I had an email from USPS saying they tried to deliver a package sent by Priority Mail International (from a seller who objected to using PM as "Express Mail International is more reliable". Of course, I didn't want to pay over $30 to ship one chip...). Whoever tried to deliver it did not put a card through my door, so if they had not sent an emaiul I would not have known about it!
Does anyone know who handles packages from USPS when they reach the UK? If USPS have a UK phone number, does anyone know what it is? I need to arrange a redelivery and do not really want to put a note on my front door saying I am out for the next 2 days!
Thanks for any help (please do not say Post Office, DHL, TNT or Parcel Force, as I called every one of them already and they all say they never handle mail from USPS).
In fact, if anyone works for USPS, please let me know if you are able to get more info than the website gives. Thanks _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

erm.. all my parcels sent to me via USPS have been handed to Parceforce once in the UK, and I usually end up with a hefty bill* before they will deliver.
* From memory, something like: handling fee + clearance fee + vat + duty if applicable |

| If you have the tracking number, or any kind of reference, try enter it on royal mail and parcelforce websites. |

Are you sure it is a real e-mail?? I get heaps of these as spam, usually containing a virus. They claim they tried to deliver a parcel - usually UPS, DHL, USPS etc.
Here in Aus, USPS parcels are delivered by our national postal service, Australia Post. I would guess it would be the same in the UK _________________ My former Intel collection:

hmm...
Despite Parcelforce telling me they know nothing about it, putting the USPS tracking code into their system gave me a Parcelforce tracking number and said it is at their depot awaiting payment of charges. I'd love to know why a single, obsolete chip that cost me only $66 ($93 with shipping!!!) has incurred extra costs on arrival in the UK. It's not like it's worth anything commercially or should ahve hefty taxes on it, and shipping is already paid for!
Guess I'll have to phone them tomorrow _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

I asked USPS to email me updates on tracking for this package. Now that (on JAC's suggestion) I have checked online instead of just phoning Parcelforce it seems that it was them who cost me a fortune in phone calls to try and sort it out today!
I also get heaps of spoof emails claiming to be them, but in this case I knew it to really be them _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

The charges are obscene.
As the stated value is over the threshold for gift ( if its not a gift but marked low value, they dont charge).
So 93 USD .. well... thats about 61 GBP ( long gone are the days when 93 USD would have been only 46 GBP!) ..
So yeah.. expect to pay VAT on that 61 GBP.. thats about 11 GBP ( 17.5% .. the 15% rate wont apply as its been applied beforehand!). Then there is the clearing fee. If you are lucky it will only be about 4 GBP, but it could be 8GBP. (fees are from memory, so I could be a little out!)
So expect to cough up between 15 and 25 GBP to clear the parcel and have them deliver it to you.
You can ring the number to pay the fee on the automated system to find out how much you have to pay. |

Oh well. I guess that's not too bad, if the CPU is what it seems to be. It's the only ADA3600AEP5AR I ever saw anywhere. I've never even seen a reference to an Athlon 64 3600+ in any package, so look forward to testing it when it arrives
Now all I need ios a Clawhammer compatible board so I can run it, as my board will probably run it enough to do a CPUID but not to fully test it _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

Well JAC, it seems that for all my great ideas, giving up collecting was nothing more than a grewat idea
I'm just going to try and be a bit more sensible than I was with my spending now I have resumed collecting (try to pay bills and debts, for example). _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

Technically Parcelforce are part of the postal network here linked to Royal Mail (now a privately run company with a bottom line to chase!), but they are run as a seperate entity within the whole system. ( most services are now privatised or run as if they are). Anything to screw Joe Public. Welcome to rip off Britain! |

I'm still spending most of my time with God. It seems it will be a while before I ahve the option of living in a community setting, so in the meantime I intend to keep doing what interests me, as long as I don't let it get between me and God _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.
