Looks good. Are you going to leave (c) copyright 2002, or specify a range of years (like 2000 - 2005) for copyright?

29.95 + a little for shipping and handling.

The collectors who have contributed photos or info over the years get theirs free.

I'm really not sure what I should put on it. The copyright office only wanted to know the year it was completed.

By the way, I need your address so I can send you a preview copy.

I hate to burst your bubble, but there is a chip-guide ( Did I mention Free?) on a webpage. It's all of yours for the taking. http://www.redhill.net.au/c-1.html

gmps is MUCH more complete, and thorough, it includes info about all old support chips as well s every known package and marking variation.

Its worth the $30.

I don't think your going to burst any bubbles. Even Intel is sponsoring this guide and will be selling it at their museum. There is nothing like it published to date and I think this guide will be an eye opener to a lot of collectors.

I think I am getting one for free but if I don't I definately will spend the cash Very Happy

Well, the Intel museum has seen some sample sections and said they look "awesome" but I don't have anything in writing yet about getting the guide in the museum gift shop, but I'm working on it;).

The museum has been very helpful and has put me in direct contact with
people like Hal Feeney and Andrew Volk among others. There's a few of Intel engineers I know personally that I have shown the preview copy
and they said they thought it looked great.

Maybe you can get an ISBN number for it and sell it through Amazon or some other online bookseller.

I finally got around to getting an exact page count across all the cross linked docs.

The 2005 edition:

Pages: 1307
Photos: 741

Over 2000 part number, copyright and package variations for
335 different chips (1101, 1101A, 1103...)

The guide covers the Intel 4004 thru 8088 Microprocessors and
RAM, ROM, PROM, EPROM, support circuits, peripherals, and microcontrollers from roughly the same time period.

Preview copies will go out next week.

That takes work, I may be able to get in touch with Mr. Groves if it helps.

Let's see what the museum says first and see what you guys think before you call Mr. Groves:)

Do you really know him or are you just kidding?

The book 'Inside Intel' makes him out as a pretty tough character.

You know, in a way I wish someone with an semiconductor engineering
background had written the collectors guide instead of me. I'm a programmer and while I dabble with electronics in my spare time, I'm not an electronics guru my any means.

That said, my logic is that you don't have to be able to engrave a die and run a 50 ton press to collect coins so why should you need to be a semiconductor engineer to appreciate the historic value of vintage microchips?
