|
|
Hi all,
I had an idea that could be great for all of us. Why not building a semi-private FTP server where we can share all our old CPU/MMU/RAM datasheets ? The goal is to create a big databank of all the datasheet with free access for collectors.
I have a big server with many GB available and 60 Mb/s of bandwidth available. I can host all the files and set an account for all of you.
Is it a good idea ? _________________ ES-Only Collector : http://www.engineering-sample.com

sounds good... i wouldnt get much use out of it tho.
it did give me the idea though, why not make an 'open' website.. where any of us can submit pics and information about chips we have.. so instead of us all having sites with just our collections, we'd have a much larger, more complete site.. ? |

I'll be happy to see that.
It's hard to get some datasheets.
Maybe share in news group is another good idea. |

| It may be a good idea, but only some people should be able to add files or it will become a real mess with doubles everywhere I think... |

there should be a specific 'upload' folder
where people can upload files.
They then would be validated and sorted into the right spot by the server moderaters (whoever those will be) _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!

Correct. But for anyone interested:
A legal copy of the Nx586 Processor Databook is available through the US Patent and Trademark Office (http://www.uspto.gov/). The databook was included in US patent 5,768,575 as appendix D in microfiche form.
A few years ago, I paid 25 US$ plus shipping for a paper copy, if I remember correctly. |

Great news, the FTP is up and running.
The main host will be ftp.x87.fr
It requires a login/password. All users that agree to share their own datasheets and upload them in the /Upload folder will receive the login/password. I think that's a good deal for all of us. Here is the current listing :
