Leev,
I have the same white HP processor and they are scarce and unusual.
Does yours have a white ceramic cube on the bottom center?
Can to show a pic of the other side? |

Hi John,
yes it has an white ceramic cube on the bottom side.
The board that i got with it has some markings on the red handles, and one says PARALEL, so maybe this board is used for an printer of some sort?
Here's an picture of the underside: |

| The ET4116 is 16K DRAM made by Eurotechnique, acquired by Thomson in 1983. |

Yep, it's the same chip as mine and i've never seen one on a board before.
Could you take a pic of the board in better lighting, so we can see it better?
Sounds like you could be right about the printer.
This chip has a most unusual package.
Thanks for sharing.... |

I have 4 different types of this chip:
1AD3-6001 (d/c 8628)
1AA1-6001 (d/c 2694 + 1901) [x2]
1AA6-6003 (d/c 2811)
1AA6-6004 (d/c 1582)
Stupidly of me, when at the scrapyard I didn't think to find out which machines they were from. I also have two boards that the 6001s came out of. All the other chips are dated late 70s (77-79).
I lost the clips that hold the chip in the socket
The board also had nice purple ceramic RAM (x4) and white ROM (x2). The ROM is 1AA2-6200 & 1AA2-6201 (1AA2-6198 & 1AA2-6199 on the other rev. A board). The RAM is all 1AA3-6001.
Again, no idea what these were out of but they boards look like a SBC (the big ceramic chip is CPU?, and the others are ROM and RAM). The board also has LEDs MEM, IO, A, B, C, D, INT & RUN. There is a DIP switch bank marked 'Self test'.

The board that the white HP chip is from, is a "Parallel duplex interface board - 8 or 16 bit" HP part-number 12006-69003.
The board is from the HP1000 Series HP-IB Systems controller (models A400, A600, A700, A900 & A990), mainly used for real-time automatic testing, measurement and control.
They refer to the processor/s here

excerpt from one of the manuals
"The HP 12009A is the interface card for A-Series HP 1000 computers. The card uses two LSI chips to control communication between the HP 1000 and the bus: the I/O processor (IOP) and the processor to HP-IB interface chip. The IOP chip is found on all A-Series cards. It manages I/O operations to free the processor for other tasks. The HP-IB interface chip performs the conversation and control functions required to let the IOP communicate with the bus"
