Very cool chip! Datecode week 2 1994, with copyright 1994, it'll not be easy to get an earlier example Smile

That marking is quite common on UMC 486 chips. I don't recall the full story but I think they could not sell in the US because of copyright issues.

that's right debs. UMC copied too many intel ideas and as an outcome of a lawsuit UMC agreed not to sell their cpus in the states.
nice cpu man!

...

yes , this is the oldest U5 i have ever seen
the chip is also special in a few points
1.it is the only U5 (ceramic ) without "Green CPU" i have ever seen
i believe it is make before the concept of green cpu
2.it is the only U5 with a 1994 copyright
3.without speed mark

there is another U5 with similar features
http://www.chipdb.org/img-umc-u486dx2-u5-green-3240.htm
U5 486DX2 owned by vincio
it also has a special copyright " 1995"
and also without speed
i believe U5 486DX2 of vincio is a sample
actually, someone told me that UMC 486DX2 is only produced as sample
