Is the slot 1 one ghz considered a "rare" item to anyone here?? I have it up for trade!

| as i recall they were fairly short lived.. the p4 came out at a few hundred mhz faster, and intel had a lot of problems getting decent yeilds on them.. |

As did AMD, the Race to 1gig yielded some very unstable CPUs, heck AMD and Intel both overclocked and sold them lol _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!

amd's actually lived well passed 1ghz tho.. ive got a 1ghz classic athlon, doesnt work tho
i remember that one lan party when a friend of mine showed up with a shiny new 1ghz athlon rig.. everyone else was running p3 600s and such.. i had a celeron 466
we all gathered 'round to watch it post with FOUR DIGITS
too bad he killed it a year or two later..

The slot 1 was actually responsible for getting me into chip collecting!
I was looking for a slot 1 PIII 600 on EBAY for a parts box I was building about 5-6 years ago and several sellers had listed them as "rare" even
then.
I had never really occured to me that a processor could be "rare" so just for fun a did an EBAY search for CPU +RARE and an entire list of
auctions shows up. One auction that immediately caught my eye was
an auction for "The worlds 1st microprocessor". The auction was for an Intel P4004. I thought it would be cool to get it framed and hang in my office. I didn't win that auction but it did get me interested in vintage
chips. |
