Paul, Where do these collectors congregate at? I would appreciate a link to the forum. I collect GPUs as well but not very actively.
I actually started collecting GPU's before CPU's and have some very early samples of a technology called PixelPlane that was developed locally at the University of North Carolina. The original idea was a HUD for fighter pilots but it kind of evolved from there. I recently visisted one of the engineers that worked on the early portion of the project and got to see some interesting helmets with prototypes of the HUD. Next time I will bring a camera!! The engineers from this project went on to develop products at Nintendo, Nvidia, Atari and HP. I am trying find an example of each PixelPlane chip from 1.x up to 4.5 and hope to have a section on my website for it.

I just got two ATI x1950 Crossfire Edition engineering samples two weeks ago and will be selling them later today on the For Sale thread.
Some pics of various PixelPlane IC's.
The ceramic board w/ separate die was for testing thermal capabilities and has funny quotes and saying on each chip.

Hey, maybe they can help me... I have this WICKED graphics card, it's ancient but I know it's a serious card, and I can barely find anything about it.
It's made by NeTpower, and it's a "TrueFX Ultra". It has 2 processors, 2 SIMM slots, another big IBM processor on the far side... I know it's a workstation 3D accelerator from a rackmount system, from the mid-90's. The card is HUGE, 31cmx12.5cm and very pretty Maybe I'll post a pic? |

I've got a Voodoo 1 and some ATI cards, and this week at work I desoldered the chips from a couple o gf8600 cards. Also have a few GPUs from N64, Gamecube and the like.
Chipcollector - have you been talking to the guy who framed his old graphics card and tried to sell it on ebay for $500 or something ? |

Are you saying you have enough GT8600 to be able to strip them down for parts and scrap? I am pretty sure you will find buyers (myself included soon!) who will want budget, entry-level CUDA enabled cards! _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

May I ask you why you are interested in CUDA? |

Because I am still competitive, and CUDA would enable me to improve my stats on distributed networking projects like SETI and others with GPU apps. Not all 8600 are worth buying for more than pennies, but some are (although faster is better for the faster systems). _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

Nope, I found this guy while searching through all the external links through my site stats he was setting up a dual Pentium Pro 133MHz ES system, and mentioned his videocard _________________ http://www.RareCPUs.com
