|
|
| I have a dell with a socket 754 cpu. It is a 1.80 gigahertz AMD Sempron i believe its a 3100+. When I run a high memory game the fps is way low. I have upgraded my memory to 1 1/2 gigs of ddr2 and was thinking about getting a new cpu. Any suggestions? and also my motherboard bus clock is 800 megahertz. do i have to get a cpu with this side bus clock or can I go bigger? |

Socket 754 is DDR only,. not DDR2.
Socket 754 was short lived, and is dead.
If the board is PCIe, get a ~$130 graphics card, 9800GT is a great choice.
If you have $160 budget, replace the system with a $60 mATX board, $35 2x2GB DDR2-800 and the newly $65 e5200 CPU.
If you have $300 budget, get both.
Nobody here will recommend getting a faster processor (Only two which will make a difference are the 3400+ and the 3700+, both of which do get expensive).
If you have AGP graphics, save up for the $150 budget, and your integrated graphics (X4x00/X3x00 Intel or 7xx0 nVidia) will be OK. |

Hey sorry I downloaded a cpu id software and it told me socket 754 but i had taken it apart before and knew it wasn't a 754 it is a am2. So that being said what do u suggest know. Also i have a basic NVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE graphics card with only 256mb. which would be a better upgrade a cpu or graphics card? |

Guessing that its a pcie card, Grafics card would definatly serve you better as an upgrade _________________ "The only reason for time is so that everything doesn't happen at once." A.E. |

Well, if you have AM2 then all's well!!
Go for that graphics card I recommended.
Save your money for a rainy day and when the Am2 A64 5600+ 65W goes for less than $60. |
