I keep mine in a dresser filling 5 drawers.
All are listed on the web, and my computer for insurance documentation.
How bout you?
do you take out an extra insurance rider for your collection? _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!

I put mine in boxes and leave them under my bed. Reason why is I like to refrain from touching them; rubbing off the ink etc. It takes too much effort to lift the matress and get it out, see what I mean? |

I keep mine in walnut trimed shadow box style cases that are about
12 x 10 x 1 inch. The front of the cases are glass so I can see the chips.
I now have 8 cases, 5 of which are full. Since I don't really collect PGA chips, I can fit a lot of DIP chips in each case, especially small chips like RAM. I line the back of the cases with antistatic foam (You can buy big sheets from www.jameco.com) for a few dollars ea.
The cases stack when laid flat which allows me to keep them stacked
on top of each other for storage. |

I currently store my chips in a Stack-on Toolbox. All the X86 and pentium chips I store in CD cases and everything from the 1970s I put in antistatic foam which lines each drawer. I am in the process of trying to reorganize and store them a little better and I am even considering having a huge cabinet built for them. Not sure how long it will take but when I get it done I will post a pic.

Long time ago I posted a picture of my storage box:
http://www.cpu-world.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=28
When I have some spare money I'll get another drawer - the one I have is already full
I store all PGA chips in trays, and some big chips like Pentium II are stored in boxes.

I use A4 size document boxes.
Where can I get some cpu trays and useful foam?
I can't find them on ebay... |

right now mine are all in a small box..
is there any bad effects to using styrofoam to hold them? like, would it corrode the pins or anything? |

| That's what I use! Don't worry about it, everyone else keeps them secured in trays because they're afraid the oxygen in the air would scratch the markings! |

The only issue with using antistatic foam is that some types break down over time (decades), leaving residue on the pins. I'd be more worried about excess humidity and corrosive environments...
