I wish Intel would put HT in their Celeron D line of processors.
I'm still running a socket 478 Motherboard with a P4 Northwood, which means my FSB is lacking behind at 533Mhz, I would upgrade but I don't want to waste all that RAM I have which isn't rated at 800Mhz, and I can't get my hand on a P4 Northwood 3.06Ghz with HT.
If Intel are going Dual Core this year or whatever, do you think the Celeron D line will get HT? Would be good! May put a bit more life into old socket 478, so far the Celeron D 350 isn't HT, mabe the 355???! Will it support 478? Either way, socket 478 was short lived....
What do you guys think? |

HT makes a big difference- I transferred 36 GB of files to my 250gb hard drive while playing half-life 2 Deathmatch online, with 100 FPS. A regular computer only gets 21 and below.
There are 3.06GHZ Pentium 4 533FSB with Hyper Threading on Ebay, they come up every often, there's probably one on there right now.
But don't upgrade to celeron. The Cache is extremely low. Go 1MB or go nothing at all. |
