If I put an Athlon XP cpu that runs a faster speed and is Model 8 130 nm instead of Model 6 180nm in a motherboard that isn't listed as supporting it, will it just underclock to a lower level or will it get damaged? I'm asking as I can upgrade motherboard later and reuse cpu and get full speed then. The mobo is socket A.
Thank you. |

Won't work and you risk to damage both m/b and cpu.
If that model isn't supported it's because there are electrical differences that make it impossible for the m/b to work with that cpu.
Buy a compatible motherboard. |
