I know that kind of issue with my car. One time, it took me 8 hours to drive 300 km... If I drove too fast, motor was too hot and stopping...

Good night Wink

UK govornmen just launched a £2k scrapping trade in for old cars when you buy a new one. Other European countries have this too I believe.

Maybe you should take advantage of it Wink

That car scheme is bollocks. As I understand it, the German scheme is better, as theirs applies to cars up to one year old as well as new cars.

Here in the UK, the scheme is restricted to the first couple hundred thousand sold, and only to new cars.
So a new car driven off the forecourt is immediately up a lot less in value, more than the "discount". ( unless its some cheap POS, and why would you want to buy that anyway.)
Also some car makers like Honda and another one were not happy as there is disagreement over who is actually covering the refund and there is also a tax issue.

So all in all.. a good idea, badly implemented. That has been the hallmark of our government. .. that and their inflated expense claims.

OH cpushack.. restriction on emissions is here in the form of additional taxes.. the more you pollute, the more you pay, and there are additional green zone charges to get into central London and so on.
Also, that scheme your new prez just announced about cars meeting 39 mpg by 2016... erm.. my car just about does 39 mpg, and I have had it for 8 years.

I'm not sure that german scheme applies to any old car. That would make any sense, because goal is to support car makers. In germany, the one year budget dedicated to that offer has been used in 3 months or less. So government had to add more budget for it, to keep the offer until end of year. But they were quite generous. 2k€ for an 8 or 10 year old car.
In France, this is "only" 1k€ for 10 year car.
Spain will make such offer soon as well (as car sales has again dropped from 40% last april...)

duh. the gov wants to give you money, and you complain...
heard, there's another plan to introduce a very interesting tax in Poland (another tax, duh). The gov wants to tax old cars, where a car older than 15 yrs would have to pay about 3000 PLN a year (which is about one and a half months pay) just to be able to drive it. If u had a new car, you'd have to pay about 300PLN. So basically - if u can't afford a new car, you have to pay A LOT; if you're rich enough to buy a new car, you don't pay (almost) anything.
Now where's the logic in that?? Neutral
My 100nx i worth around 5k PLN and I'd have to pay 3k PLN a year for it?? no way, dude. Guess I'll be getting on my bike all-year-round, in knee high snow to go anywhere. This country is going bananas.
I'd understand if it would be about emissions - "pay up if you've got an EURO 0 car", but I guess that would pose a problem as LPG i very popular in Poland, and being very "green", even my EURO 0 Nissan100nx when LPG powered would be around the EURO5 class. Hmm...

Hey thomsonicus. I didn't hear about that. In that case I will use my actual car for only max 4 years Smile And about your records guys ... when I read them it makes me laugh because many of polish tracks are so bad and you can't drive faster than 30-50 km/h if you don't want to have rapair of chassis Smile

I've had my car do something like that. My gearstick fell out! I put it back in and managed to get 4th gear (top gear in my car) and drove home on that. Worked great on the straight, but at traffic lights and going around corners...

At the end the problem was caused by a stupid bolt that detached one of the two steel-wire that connect the gearstick to the gearbox. Less than 5 minutes and my car return normal Smile

Nice Smile You got trouble on start and I got problem on straight (going at 35KMh on road with 90KMh limit isn't funny)

LOL

I had to drive a similar distance a few years ago in reverse gear! That was not as much fun as driving a 52 seat coach 30 miles with only the first (slowest) gear available (the clutch had died and I had to get it to it's destination to fix it - couldn't afford to risk jumping gears without the clutch in a vehicle that size!).

I love cars - always something to take out my frustrations on without needing a partner about the house Smile

I had a car for a couple of years that had no reverse in it, needless to say that even to this day i usually park in spaces i can pull right out of and not have to back up. But at least it went good in foward gears.
