I am upgrading my motherboard and cpu and I am wondering if adding sata drives will make a speed difference or just keep my old ide hard drives and dvd drives for the time being. Will I be able to transfer data between harddrives and dvd drives if the they are sata 2 compared to ide drives.
If I posted in the wrong section, my apologizes. _________________ Eggs and bacon; a lifetime commitment for a pig and a days work for a chicken |

The access times should be faster and since most of the newer hard drives have larger caches on them you should see higher bandwith thoroput , you will see a real good difference if you set them up in a raid configuration. _________________ "The only reason for time is so that everything doesn't happen at once."
