Actually I've been looking at all of the chips in this range. XP 2800, 3000, 3200 & even the Sempron 3300 chips.
The motherboard I have has the 400 mhz FSB but I only have an XP2000+ 266 mhz chip running in it at the moment. It's a great processor and has ran very well for all these years so far but I was looking at doing an upgrade.
As I've found out after beginning my search the prices can be quite high for these chips but I keep looking.
Anyway I also have been looking at the mobile chips in the same range but I'm unsure if they are compatible with my motherboard.
It's an ABIT board, Mod #KW7(VIA KT880-8237)1.x
BIOS LTD 6.00 PG 10/01/2004
Currently running 1 gig of ram.
Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

If it supports FSB400, then it SHOULD support all processors, even the Sempron 3300. Your best bet is a Mobile 2600/2800, and then force FSB333 on it, from FSB266, and get a reasonable overclock!!
But honestly, I doubt many here would recommend putting more money into this system- A very low priced Core 2 Duo setup with your existing drives, case, and PS would run you just a couple hundred, and mop the floor with your current setup, and use less power! |

OH, believe me I have a system picked out in my mind but I have been out of work since the middle of last August.
So I'm just looking at all of my options. Anything to push what I have a little further!
Thanks for the response.
