Just built a new pc - crashes, is it windows or hardware

Hi,

Just built a new PC with an ASUS barebones system. It has an AMD 5050e, 8GB of DDR2 1066MHz RAM. Have installed Windows XP Pro x64 Edition.

I've only had it for 24 hours now and am already I'm getting some blue screens. The blue screens are go very quickly before the computer resets itself, but I can make in the text it says "disk.sys".

My question is - is my build not correctly done - eg is this due to RAM not being seated correctly or the processor or is this is Windows problem? And what is disk.sys related to?

Also in case it was a BIOS problem I have just updated to the latest.

please let olny one stick of ram and boot the system...
if this help put one stick a time to see if there is a defective ram

also down clock ur memory to 800mhz...may is this....

also may u need to give the right voltage to dimm usualy 2.1v for ddr2 and 1.6v - 1.8v for ddr3...

if all this not help make the win installation again...
also remove any other device u may have on board (usb sticks ,tv tuner ,raid card or watever)

Is there anyway I can force the system into crashing? I mean at the moment I am typing this message on my system and its been working for an hour? In order to go through 4 stick of RAM I will have to wait for it to crash 4 times and even then I wont be sure.

Do I check in the BIOS settings the voltages?

read ur mobo manual.....
its easy to set it manual....
i can tell u for sure where is but i think must be in some adv bios tab..

My RAM is not running at 1066 MHZ anyway. This has been confirmed in CPU-Z.

Try running a program like Memtest or prime95 or Orthos and see, I know with Prime it will show errors very quickly , then you can start swapping out sticks of memory. But usually BSODs are caused by memory , unless youre installing windows M.E. which I highly doubt

turns out the problem for this was windows XP x64 just not being being stable. Don't know if other people have had these problems. Just installed windows 7 RC x64 and it has never crashed in 2 weeks now.

It might be some driver problems. Windows XP 64-bit is very stable for me. I had similar problems with early video drivers but they were gone long time ago.
