In case anybody was planning on spending their hard-earned money on it, it's a common-as-dirt TTL part worth about 25 cents tops. I have the original Motorola data sheet to prove it, along with about 50 of them myself.

And no, Lee, I'm not picking on you. Smile

Here are a few MC4004's from my collection with 1971 date codes:

Gold pins, no less - but still essentially worthless.

And here are some MC4005's with 1970 date codes, which obviously predates the Intel 4004:

Why would I think you were picking on me? Rolling Eyes Out of the 12 trillion auctions going you found mine and had a problem with it Very Happy . I am sure that was just out of chance but I did notice that I am the only person you badmouth here on this forum Very Happy I didn't list it as the world's smallest chip or something false like some of the other sellers to try and get people to bid so why are you spending your time bringing it up on a forum? Very Happy

Actually I bought these back when I knew nothing about chip collection and I have several of them but the fact that they are 1970s could make them valuable to someone just not me. I think I paid about $2.00 each for them... Embarassed

At any rate if I faulsely list anything I appreciate it when someone tells me so that I can fix it although I think your intentions were not honorable Very Happy

easy folks, dont need a flame session here, its a fine auction if old TTL is your thing.

They are nice chips (as are those 71 dated ones)

Yup, that's what happens when you put 4004 into Ebay's search engine.

You listed it as "rare," which it ain't.

Just trying to keep people from wasting their money.

Yea, I haven't been collecting long Very Happy but I do have a better collection than you, more feedback than you especially if you look at repeat customers (c.webster: 272 gmanbc: 559) and I don't go on forums and stalk people. With that said, I am not going to let you coax me into another childish arguement on this forum.

Instead... You claim in one of your post here on the forum to have 60,000 chips in your collection. I challenge you to show us. Let's see them! I only have about 700 chips in my Intel collection but I will match you chip for chip on everything that you have that is Intel and although I know you can't even come close, it would be interesting to more than just me to see what you got or don't have.

I am curios to see the excuse you use to back out of this challenge Embarassed and I know you will Cool

gmanbc

Oh by the way! If you have 59,000 pieces of the same type of chip I don't think people would consider them part of a collection Question

For everyone else reading this:

Has anyone ever sold or traded with chip68? I am just curious as he doesn't have a want or trade list like a normal collector and he doesn't buy chips on Ebay. Maybe he already has everything? I know you don't have to be a collector to be on this forum but he does claim to be one?

i actually dont have a want or trade list either.. not a formal one. my want list would be 500 chips long and my trade list would be 'pentium' and '486 dx2'

that said, anyone who buys a chip with a motorola logo on it, that says motorola in the title, and again in the description, thinking its an intel chip (or at best a second source) needs to learn the valuable lesson overpaying for a chip will teach them Razz

Your right about not having to have a trade or want list but do you trade with other collectors? Buy from other collectors?

Do you think my add is misleading? Most people woudn't give you a dime for a C4004 but its value to a collector is substantial. I wouldn't give you a nickel for a transister or a vacuum tube but there are some people that will pay big money for the right ones. And I don't see myself going onto a forum to tell people not to bid on them.

I don't know about you folks, but the same ten people buying the same four chips over and over again doesn't impress me all that much.

Quite probably... I've been doing this for some 30 years. And while I concede that you might have a larger Intel collection than I do, that's pretty much like a coin collector having a large collection of wheat pennies - not particularly rare or interesting or of much historical value. Trust me, you don't know what rare is when it comes to integrated circuits.

gmanbc wrote:

I wouldn't brag about that if I were you.

I didn't tell anyone not to bid, I simply told them the truth about the chip. Listing a worthless MC4004 alongside collectible Intel chips and calling it "rare" is either gross ignorance or an attempt to mislead - so which is it? Wink

As far as this "stalking" nonsense goes, I was posting in this forum long before you ever did. You followed me here. The only thing you are a victim of, Lee, is your own ego. Perhaps if you hadn't felt the need to lie to everyone about our one transaction and do everything in your power to drag my name through the mud (via email), you wouldn't be in this predicament right now.

Well, as I said, my sole reason for posting in the first place was to try to prevent anyone from getting gypped. When a seller of Intel collectibles puts "rare Motorola 4004" in the title of their listing, what's the obvious implication...? Unfortunately, 5 people already fell for it and some poor shmuck is going to end up paying at least $9.60 plus shipping for a chip that's worth zilch, even to non-CPU chip collectors. I'm not sure why the other party in this discussion has a problem with my pointing that out.

I like Lee and I think he is a very good collector and trader. But if Chip68 didn't put anything about the chips worth, I would have bid- at least in according to what the other similar type 4004's go for.
Anyway, I traded my soul with the devil for 2 pieces of bubblegum! Idea

I think everyone knows are history and if anyone else had posted this I would even cared as I know there intentions would have been good. Yours are not and if someone wants to go through this sight they can easily see the only person you attack and continue to do so is me. Please go away!
