GN4 red filter coated. The red filter coating improves the contrast, making the tube easier to read. Not the largest tube, but a really beautiful tube. The red filter coating is a very good quality and covers the whole tube, unlike some of the cheaper copies. ( for example Tesla brand yuk!)

GNP7. This tube is part of the reason why I "discovered" nixies. I had this for many years in one of my electrical component racks. One day while frustrated with a circuit problem at work I decided to clear my mind and to get this tube going. To my amazement I found a bunch of info on the web, lots of clocks and other crazy things. Anyway, once I fired this baby up I was hooked. Ok, its not the largest, its not rare, its just the reason why I am sat here typing this.

5082-7101 is indeed the part number - here's the data sheet in PDF format:

Speaking of VFDs, at one time I had a couple hundred of these, but I sold most of them off the last time I moved. VFDs are like an inverted cathode ray tube, with the phosphor in back and the filament in front.

Yes, they are nice tubes thanks. Currently I am in hoard mode when I find stock of tubes I want to buy. I'll post more tubes later. A bit busy at work right now.
I like VFD's as well, I have a stack of them. I tend to get the ones with driver chips already on. While its not difficult to homebrew, it is a painintheass.
The CD47's are very nice. I'd like one as well. I have heard, but not seen, prices ranging up to $800 each, but I suspect they would sell for more than that now. This is supported with a recent sale of a used CD46.
Here is the used one that sold...
Well over $800 for a used tube!

Lucky Strike indeed!
I have to say that is an insane price. I know its a nice tube, but for that money I can buy a hundred brand new 1" digit height tubes!

Thanks much for that!
Still I am wondering why those others have then a 1990-... part number.
But maybe I set up an ebay search now for this number and somewhen get one NOS as mine are all desoldered:-) |

I have 2x HP 1990-1477 dated 8752 if anybody wants them. Pictured with the customary Pentium gold cap (just a boring one.. not ES) and JAC's favourite 486 DX25 (albeit SX308 variant)
